'Nike' 2021 lucky charm
It’s safe to say that 2020 has been a veritable annus horribilis and that the new year can’t come soon enough. Our collective hope that the new year will bring health and prosperity meets Z+D’s conviction that it will in the brand’s 2021 lucky charm.
Conceived as a celebration of the bicentennial anniversary of the start of the Greek War of Independence in 1821, it depicts Nike, the ancient Greek goddess of victory, holding an olive branch, the timeless symbol of peace, as a salute to both the 19th century revolutionary fighters and the modern-day heroes.
In the challenging times we are going through, the concept of victory is as pertinent and resonant as ever. In the same way the Greek people fought and won their independence 200 years ago, we will undoubtedly vanquish this pandemic we find ourselves held captive to. From the battles to create a vaccine and find a cure, to the everyday struggles we all individually face, our current woes will be overcome.
All we need is the patience and conviction to stay the course, and a little bit of luck.
